It is my great pleasure to announce the completion of my junior year at Houghton. It’s been a great year and I hope you have enjoyed my somewhat less than consistent posting. This summer I am very excited as I will be starting an internship at the Acadia Psychiatric hospital in Bangor, Maine. This is a part of my Applied/Pre-Therapy track of my Psychology major. Okay, okay, I’m late. Sorry about this. But I’m going to go back in time about a month (March 12th to be exact) and tell you about one of the best nights of the year!
The International Banquet is an annual tradition that I have had the great pleasure of enjoying for the past three years. About 10% of Houghton students are internationals/TCKs and this event, put on by the Intercultural Student Association (ISA), is a chance to celebrate the world and for all of us to show off …

Hello blog readers!
Since I last wrote I officially made it back from Egypt to the U.S. of A., back to Texas (home) for Christmas break with my family, and now back to snowy New York for the semester!
“Re-entry” is a study abroad buzz word: that is, the journey of reflecting on time abroad and adjusting back to the culture at home. Truthfully, it’s a phrase that reminds me more of astronauts dramatically crashing into the atmosphere, but I’ve been really thankful for the way the entire Houghton community has been supportive and helpful in this process. Ahh, finals week. That time of stress and finishing. I have three finals down and one to go before I can go home. During this time I am reflecting on this past semester and very much looking forward to the next one. This reminds me that I have neglected to share with you what is most definitely the most exciting development in my life this past semester.

Once upon a time at Houghton College…all the writing majors had an awesome retreat! At the beginning of the semester I received an e-mail inviting me to a writing retreat. Upon seeing for travel, lodging, and food I would have to spend a grand total of nothing I was super excited and stuck it on my calender. I had no idea just how great it would actually be.
