Days, weeks, & years previous: Went to classes, studied abroad, wrote lots of papers, learned different languages, went on lots of adventures.
Monday, May 9th: Took final-final-exam
Tuesday, May 10th: Turned in Senior Seminar Project
Wednesday, May 11th: DONE!
Truthfully, I haven’t fully realized that I am indeed—totally and completely—done with my undergraduate degree here at Houghton! It’s bittersweet to think about; I’m happy and excited to be moving on to new things, and I will also miss the my sweet friends and professors and all of the good memories I have in this place.
While the end was busy, it finished well, …

Look! I'm graduating!
I can hardly believe how quickly time passes by! It’s already mid-March and Spring feels right around the corner here at Houghton (I hope, at least!). These past few weeks have been filled with excitement for me—graduate school acceptances (For my masters and certification in education), my 21st Birthday, Java dates, adventures to Maple Tree Inn to delight in pancakes and the laughter of friends, H.E.L.P. day (which is a day for advising and senior planning and good seminars on life during and after college—time to start thinking more about finances and insurance, for me!), and lots and lots of school work!

However, (and perhaps this is one of the greatest gifts of studying abroad) once you’ve seen and touched and loved a country and its people, it’s almost impossible to maintain this sort of distance. And now Egypt—this country that I have come to care about so much—is being shaken by protests and …

Hello blog readers!
Since I last wrote I officially made it back from Egypt to the U.S. of A., back to Texas (home) for Christmas break with my family, and now back to snowy New York for the semester!
“Re-entry” is a study abroad buzz word: that is, the journey of reflecting on time abroad and adjusting back to the culture at home. Truthfully, it’s a phrase that reminds me more of astronauts dramatically crashing into the atmosphere, but I’ve been really thankful for the way the entire Houghton community has been supportive and helpful in this process. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience abroad, nor a better experience coming back to campus now. I love my …
